..... Devon Bridgewater and the Nuance Jazz Trio have scored again with their latest CD, entitled Angular.
..... The Nuance acoustic/electric jazz ensemble includes Dennis Sexton on bass, John Knowlton on guitar, and Devon Bridgewater, who plays violin, trumpet and fluegelhorn.
..... Devon was named in 1992 and 1993 as "Jazz Artist of the Year" by Jazz in Arizona, and was voted as best trumpet artist in 1999 by AZ Jazz Magazine. He was also listed in 1999 by Downbeat Magazine as a "player to catch." Bass player Dennis Sexton was voted "best bassist" in 2000 by AZ Jazz Magazine.
..... Nuance has performed regularly in international events, such as the Festival Sinaloa in Mexico.
..... The cover artwork for the CD Angular was painted by Debbie Sexton (wife of bassist Dennis Sexton). The title song of the CD was composed by Stan Sorenson. Other songs are familiar standards that lend themselves to jazz improvision, such as Gone with the Wind, 'Round Midnight by Thelonius Monk, and Nardis by Miles Davis.
